Within 15 minutes we have left the busy city center of Amsterdam behind us and your Tulip fields, Windmill and a whole lot more journey has started.

Meadows, Cows, Ditches, Windmills and many colorful tulip fields, you will see it all while we are driving to the world famous Afsluitdijk. This dike, connecting the 2 northern provinces and protecting half of the country against the force of the North Sea is the gateway to the Amsterdam Lake District.

Time to explore the dike. Walk across to the North sea, climb the monument; watchtower to look out over both the Ijssel lake and the North sea, or take a picture with Mr. Lelie, the founder of the dike.

Next we enter the Amsterdam Lake District in the province of Friesland. With its own language, flag, culture and pride, it stands out from the rest of the Netherlands. Just wait and you’ll find out.

Following, we visit an old wood sawmill in the smallest city of the Amsterdam Lake District; Sloten. The miller will tell you everything about his work, the mill and the significance of windmills in the Netherlands.

Next, we will drive to Allingawier, an open air museum village in the north of the Lake District. Meet the villagers, and have our local guide take you back in time to the craftsman, inside and old farmhouse and enjoy a typical Dutch Farmers Lunch (which is included in your tour).

After lunch we get back in the bus to visit a Traditional Dutch Cheese maker. Here you will learn everything about the process of making cheese, different types of cheese and of course you will get to try some delicious Dutch cheese.
