Within 15 minutes we have left the busy city center of Amsterdam behind us and we will head towards Friesland for your Frisian Culture and Heritage tour.

Meadows, Cows, Ditches, Windmills, Dikes, Idyllic landscapes and many colorful tulip fields will bring you to the world famous Afsluitdijk. This dike, connecting the 2 northern provinces and protecting half of the country against the force of the North Sea is the gateway to Friesland.

Before we enter Friesland it’s time to explore the dike. Walk across to the North sea, climb the monument; a watchtower to look out over both the Ijssel lake and the North sea and take a picture with Mr. Lelie, founder of the dike.

Next we enter Friesland and the Amsterdam Lake District. We will visit an old wood sawmill in the smallest city of Friesland; Sloten. Look out over the meadows while the miller will tell you everything about his work, the mill, life in Friesland and the significance of windmills in the area.

Get your camera’s ready in the open air museum village “Allingawier”.  Life has stood still in this picturesque village. Experience it yourself and come listen to the stories of the farmer and the peasant woman, the maid and the servant. They tell you with enthusiasm about their daily lives, and teach you the tricks of this ancient farming profession.

In the restaurant a traditional Dutch Farmers Lunch is waiting for you (included in your tour)

After lunch it’s time to visit a Traditional Dutch Cheese maker. Here the farmer will learn you everything about cows, making cheese, different types of cheese and of course you will try some delicious Dutch cheeses.

Finally it’s time to walk through the tulip fields. Strike a pose, take a picture, smell the tulips and enjoy the beauty of these colorful fields. Experience why the Netherlands is famous for their beautiful tulips.
