Full itinerary

Within 15 minutes we have left the busy city center of Amsterdam behind us and we head to the Amsterdam Lake district.

Meadows, Cows, Ditches, Windmills, Dikes, Idyllic landscapes and many colorful tulip fields will bring you to the world famous Afsluitdijk. This dike, connecting the 2 northern provinces and protecting half of the country against the force of the North Sea is the gateway to the Amsterdam Lake District.

Time to explore this dike. Find out why it’s so important for the Lake District. Walk across to the North sea, climb the monument; a watchtower to look out over both the Ijssel lake and the North sea, or take a picture with Mr. Lelie, founder of the dike.

Next we enter the Amsterdam Lake District in the province of Friesland. We will visit an old wood sawmill in the smallest city of Friesland; Sloten. Look out over the lake and the meadows while the miller tells you everything about his work, the mill and the significance of windmills in the Netherlands.

Next, get your camera’s ready in the picturesque open air museum village “Allingawier”.

Meet the villagers,  have our local guide take you back in time to craftsman, inside and old farmhouse, walk through the grasslands and find out where the lake has gone. In the restaurant a typical Dutch Farmers Lunch will await you (lunch is included in your tour).

After lunch it’s time to visit a Traditional Dutch Cheese maker. Here you will learn everything about cows, making cheese, different types of cheese and of course you will try some delicious Dutch cheeses.

Now it’s time to for a unique moment. Take a walk through the tulip fields. The tulips are only blooming a couple of weeks during spring time. So strike a pose, smile and take your pictures.

By the end of the afternoon it’s time to head back to Amsterdam, where you will enjoy your evening in the city.
